Meet the Artists

heather headley
Heather Headley's #1 single "In My Mind" is from the critically-acclaimed follow-up to her Grammy nominated debut, This Is Who I Am and has been described as "a soulful, sonically charged diary."

Born in Trinidad, Heather was blessed with two creative, supportive parents, both Ministers, who lovingly encourage her passions. In 1997, Disney recruited her for the role of Nala in the history-making debut of the Tony Award winning musical, The Lion King, following that up with the marquee role in the Elton John/Tim Rice show Aida. She won a 2000 Tony Award for her star-making performance in the show, released This Is Who I Am in 2002, achieving gold status and earning Heather two Soul Train Awards for Best R&B Soul Album of The Year and Best Solo R&B/Soul New Artist Award. She also received dual nods from both the BET Awards and NAACP Awards, as well as earning two Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best R&B Vocalist.

anthony david
is a Georgia-based singer/songwriter and an impressive, talented performer known for merging old and new school grooves with a Southern flavor. David is one of the new stars who are responsible for helping to turn Atlanta into perhaps the most exciting city for new soul music. Born in Savannah, David moved to Atlanta as an adult to pursue a career in music. One of the first people he met was India Arie, and the two formed a friendship based in part
on their mutual love of 60s and 70s soul music. Using soul greats Bill Withers and Anita Baker as models, he developed his own vocal style, a rough, raspy Southern baritone that works well with his poetic, storytelling compositions about relationships, urban social issues and personal spirituality. "Stop Playing Games" is a fine introduction to a very talented young songwriter who has found his voice with a distinctly Southern sound that is both enjoyable and extremely engaging.

yolanda johnson
Yolanda Johnson is prime to enter the summer with her electrifying stage presence, hypnotic vocals, and her energetic band blending sounds of soul, funk, hip hop and R&B. Often leaving audiences spellbound and spreading this violet flower's good news. "Sass, sophistication with a twist of femininity, makes for an empowering musical cocktail." That's how industry tastemaker, Ronda Carson of Talk & Tell Media describes Yolanda Johnson. As it turns out - Yolanda - means Violet Flower. Her first single "Individual" is a feel good female anthem that is sure to get both men and women to bob their head in agreement to the message this Violet Flower has. Break out the tambourines!
